Privacy Policy

Short version: we know almost nothing about you, and we want to keep it that way.

The Vent Vault is a personal project. It's not a company, not a startup, not backed by anyone. Just a quiet space on the internet.

No name, no email, no password, no account. There's nothing to hack because there's nothing to store.

No advertising cookies. No tracking pixels. No analytics following you around the web. We don't build profiles and we don't sell data to anyone.

Your vent. The text you write and a timestamp. Nothing else. No name attached, no way to trace it back to you.

Payment confirmation. Your dollar goes through a separate payment processor. We only get a "paid" signal. We never see your card number, your name, or your address. Your payment and your vent are never connected.

A visitor cookie. A random ID stored in your browser (valid for up to one year) to manage rate limiting and prevent abuse. It's not tied to your identity, JavaScript can't read it, and it never leaves our site.

Hashed IP address. When you visit, your IP address is hashed (converted into an irreversible string of characters) and used only for rate limiting and DDoS protection. The raw IP is never stored. The hash cannot be reversed back into your real IP. Our hosting and security providers may also temporarily process standard request data (IP, user agent) as part of normal infrastructure operations.

Venting can involve personal emotions, health, relationships, or deeply private thoughts. By submitting, you're giving consent to store that text. Don't include identifying info like full names, addresses, or phone numbers in what you write.

Three services keep this site running:

A payment processor handles your dollar. A database provider stores vents with encryption. A hosting platform serves the website.

That's the full list. No analytics, no ad networks, no data brokers.

Since there are no accounts, we don't know which vent belongs to who. If you need something removed, email us with the exact text or timestamp so we can find it.

We don't sell personal information. Not under CCPA, not under GDPR, not under any law. Never have, never will.

You must be 18 or older. If you believe a minor has submitted something, let us know and we'll remove it.

If we receive a valid court order, we comply. But all we have is vent text and timestamps. We can't hand over what we don't have.

Our database is in the United States. If you're visiting from somewhere else, your vent crosses borders.

If we update this, we change the date at the top. We don't have your email so we can't notify you.
